Derby's were the blades I started with a DE a few years ago. Paired with my Weishi (a nice mild starter razor which won't break your bank), they were very gentle and forgiving as I learned proper technique. I tried the three Derby types (horizontal, vertical and orange) and found no difference in the quality of my shave. For a few dollars more, I would recommend Astra instead but have no qualms about providing Derby with a big thumbs-up!

These are fantastic for the first two shaves. Like some others mentioned, they don't last as long as some other blades, but I think they're such an ideal sharpness for the first two. Blades are so inexpensive (especially in the 100 pack) that it's worth it to me to use these. By comparison, Astra are a little smoother and last a little longer but tend to be less reliable and more prone to nicks/bumps. Merkur are similar in quality, last a tiny bit longer, and cost way too much more. Feather are sharp but very tricky and not generally useful for a daily shaving routine.

Very nice shave for the money, found it very smooth on my face and have no complants from the first 5 blades, if I find any issues down the road I'll be sure to update. Wet Shaving is truly a great experience!

I am brand new to double edge razors, but I found this blade to be very good and the cost is certainly better than cartridges.

Derby blades are the best. First double edge shave in nearly 45 years and my face is as smooth as new born babies bottom. Excellent choice

I started DE shaving a while ago and I was hesitant on what blades to get. I picked these up and they are Great. I don't have beard or moustache just your normal 48 hour whiskers. These blades will alway be in my stock.

a great blade and I am hard to please when it comes to shaving forgiving when needed and last a while four or five shaves much better then the high priced imports from Germany. I shop here/ main reason they have these blades for this price

I agree with the other reviews. So far I have tried: Merkur Platinum (3/5) Derby Lord (4/5) Gillette Stainless Sharp (3/5) Derby gets a 5/5 for me. Last about a day longer than the Lord's and I use them for both my head and face. Best blade for me so far.

These are great blades. You won't be disappointed. Go for the 100 pack- the savings are worth it.

I have rotated this blade with Astra's which I had purchased from this site. These blades are also a good buy and are worth having in ones collection of blades. I have managed 3-4 good shaves with this blade. My beard growth is pretty strong and thick, which requires a lot from any blade. I am happy with the performance of this blade and can comfortably recommend this to anyone.

Tried a Derby Extra (vertical) in my Weishi razor this morning, and I had a respectable shave. Seemed to perform (for me) almost as good as an Astra SS, except that by the time I finished my third pass, both edges of the blade were tugging. Apart from the short lifespan on my face, it's a decent blade. No blood, no irritation, not as close as I would like, but easily good enough for the office.

Nice shave, no cuts, no burn. The bread came of. Not sure if I like this better than the Astra yet both very nice.

I ordered these blades as a part of the sample pack. I think they are very nice choice, they are sharper and smoother than Merkur blades, but I think Derby still falls behind Astra and Feather. I would personally go with Astra - still a good economy choice for a better performance.

Not bad at all! Not the sharpest but I found these blades mild and forgiving. These would be great for beginners

Not bad for the price, but I prefer Astra or 7 O'clock blades. I only tried them in a superspeed, so they may perform better in other razors. But I would pay a little more and get a sharper blade.

For the last 2 years they where my normal used blade. I would have give 5 star. They where giving a really good shave and they where lasting for around 5 shaves. However, this year I was due to get some new blades and after I noticed that most the bad review was made in 2010 and 2011, I decided to get a few pack instead of the 100 blades pack. I don't know the reason, but now each blade feel different. Sometime I get a really comfortable good shaving, other time it feel like I ripped my skin in each pass. You never know what you gonna get when you install a new blade.

Picked up some of these in the sampler pack. So far I have to say this is not my favorite blade. However, I would not discourage anyone from trying them. The end result is a close and smooth shave. But for my face there is too much tug on the razor blade for my liking. I have tried this blade with a Proraso lather as well as a Col. Conk Lime soap lather. It'll be different for all of you. Good blade... just not great in my experience. But that's the point of getting your sampler.

Not as good as Astra or Feather, but for the money they're alright. Much better that Merkur, in that they actually cut. I still find these a bit rough.

Derby's are mediocre. The first one or two shaves are fine and then you may as well be shaving your face with a pie plate. Still, they are so cheap that I just throw them out after one or two uses. These make great shavers for those with tough skin or those who don't mind replacing them regularly.

I received these blades in a sampler pack and initially I was a bit wary to use them as the reviews were not the best for thick beards. The first pass was great it was smooth and close. It was much better than the Green Astra Once I got just over halfway done and it was obvious that I needed to replace the blade. If your beard is not coarse I beleive this would be a good blade, but otherwise try something else.

Got these as a sample. Packaging looks great, but I found the blades rather bad. My usual technique didn't cut it and more passes were needed. Even still, I got razor burn on my neck and the shave was not very close.

Just working my way through one of the sample packs and so far I've tried the Wilkinson, Merkur and the Derby. While the Derby cuts nice, I found that it gives me some fierce razor burn on my neck which I never got while using the Wilkinson or the Merkur.

I just started shaving with DE blades and got the sampler pack. These are my least favorite so far. Perhaps I will try changing them more often as others have suggested.

A very inconsistent blade IMO!! I have had good shaves from Derby and VERY harsh results from Derby. I have tried Derby in several types of razors: Gillette super speed, Parker Double edge, Merkur barber pole and Merkur Slant. When you get a right blade from Derby, it is nice, but for me they seem dull and ragged. This blade has a following and you may love them, but I still have 50 or so left and would never buy anymore.

Those blades are for light beard probably. For me, they where pulling on the hair like hell. Even for the price, i dont recommend. Go for Astra instead.

I am new to wet shaving. I used a Merkur blade that came with my shaver and then tried an Astra superior stainless blade ( the shave was comparable to the Merkur blade, sharp, clean shave with no tugging). The next blade I tried was the Derby Extra Super Stainless. The packaging looked great, also had a slot on the bottom to dispose of the blade. I was very disappointed with the Derby blade after using the Merkur and Astra. My Astra and Merkur blades were sharper after 5 shaves than the Derby was right out of the box. It felt like I was ripping the skin off of my face. These are horrible blades if you have any stubble on your face. I am not sure how anyone in these reviews could rate them any more than a two. I would recommend these blades to anyone that does not have hair on their faces and want to pretend that they are shaving. I am glad that I only have two boxes of 5 that need throwing out.

Awful!!! Really!!! Have been using the Black Feather since I received my first Double-Edge razor and decided to get the 100 sample pack. I shave my face and head everyday and the Derby razor blade was absolutely terrible. I looked like the girl in the Carrie movie. Cut my head and face everywhere. With the Black Feather I never had a single cut. It feels as though it is dragging the whole time. Not smooth at all. Try the sampler pack before you buy!

I am a recent convert to wet shaving. I got a Merkur 1904 from Fendrihan and a blade sampler pack. The Merkur blades are fine, and generally forgiving. Moved onto the Astra Platinums, and loved them. I then tried my first Derby and it was the worst shave I've ever had. The blade seemed like it didn't have an edge at all, and I ended up ditching it before I'd even finished my first pass. A couple of weeks later I tried a second blade, with the same result. In fairness, the Derbys I got had the "vertical/landscape" label, which a number of posters on badgerandblade.com say are far inferior to the Derbys with the "horizontal/landscape" label.

Derby blades are the worst I've tried - razor burn and nicks everywhere, every time. Every other brand I've tried is both safer and more comfortable.
