this soap is excellent! i like to soak it with warm to hot water for 10-15 seconds as im soaking my brush and getting ready to lather , then i dump out the water and load my brush , i build my lather on my face . the soap smells great and the lather lasts doesn't dry out and my DE razor (Edwin Jagger classic) just glides . my skin tends to dry out easily but this soap doesn't bother me at all , if anything its adds moisture . i love it and will soon be buying the other scents to try them as well

All my soap reviews are based on performance with straight razor shaving. Edwin Jagger was one of my favorite soaps, of the five I’ve tried. I found it to be very lubricating for the razor passing over my skin. The Sea Buckthorn smell was a nice, light smell, but I oddly found that I missed the strong menthol blast I had gotten from Proraso when shaving. I found the lather from this soap drying out a little bit faster than Proraso, so I started adding more water at the start of my lather-making which seemed to help. Even soaking this bar with the extra water during shaving, I still managed to get around 4 months out of it.

I actually ordered the Sandlewood soap and they sent me this one by mistake. I'm glad they did. I eventually got the Sandlewood. I like the SeaBuckthorn much better. All the EJ soaps give a nice shave, but this one has a nice, not too overpowering scent. Subtle I guess is the best way to describe it. If you only intend to try a couple of different soaps, include this one...

This is a fantastic quality soap. Very moisturizing, and lathers well. The Sea Buckthorn scent is fantastic- a nicer scent in my opinion than the sandalwood.

A recent addition to my rotation. Compared to the others in my collection this one left me a little underwhelmed. Had to reload he brush to get a decent lather going as the foam collapsed during application. Been wet shaving for years, so its not a technical failure. REALLY need to load the brush on this soap. The scent was the best part, just about intoxicating, smells like jackfruit! The shave was middle of the road, lacking glide and cushion of others, but not terrible either. Perhaps I'm being harsh due to high expectations from EJ based on their other products. Perhaps I'll try the cream version next!
