Stop pondering about the idea of buying this razor, just do it! I'm very happy with this razor especially since I moved up from a cheap Lord safety razor that had no weight to it at all. Remember, let the razor do all the work. Don't press down on your face. The look, weight, finish and overall design of this Merkur 34C is perfect. I don't think I'll be moving onto another razor for many many many years. Go ahead, take the plunge and spend a little. You won't regret it :)

my first DE razor.. WOW what a change.. Very well built and great value.. If you are starting out, look no further this is THE one to choose. Many Seasoned Wet Shavers thoroughly enjoy it as well!

After my first shave, I will never go back to gimmick shavers. No more will I feel the uncomfortable tug, pull, and irritation of those 4 or 5 blade razors. This DE Safety Razor is great. It has a good balance with the extra weight and when tilted on the correct angle, it does the work for you. I highly recommend this razor to people, especially those looking to get a more comfortable shave.

Just had my first ever wet shave with this little razor. No complaints. Lots of nostalgia. I have been a Gillette Mach 3/ Fusion shaver for the last 15 years and can honestly see myself never returning to them. Reading the other reviews was a big help, and splurged for the "Born to shave set". Great grip. I have medium sized hands, and didn't lose control even once. Handle could be about an inch longer for a guy like me, but I am completely thrilled over the outcome of using this. I came out alive and smooth after the first use. It'll take a bit more getting used to- but it's important to note that I actually had fun while shaving. Like the boys here mentioned- Don't press on the razor...let the weight do it for you. 5 stars for the Merkur 34C HD.

This is my first DE Razor and I'm loving it so far. This razor has a good weight to it and it has a great grip so it does not slip while shaving. It shaved closer than any other razor I used before. If you are thinking of switching to a DE Razor, this is the one. Thank You Fendrihan.

I got this razor as my christmas gift to myself and have been alternating between it and an old 1960ish? Canadian made Gillette. I love them both (maybe the old Gillette just a wee bit more - )it was my father's). The Merkur is very solidly build with nice fit and finish. Very hefty in the hand, with a deep knurl to give ample grip. As a recent convert to wet shaving ( I had been using a Mach3) I can give this razor a strong recommendation - just remember no what what blade you have in it - use a rich lather and a light touch!

I purchased the Parker Heavyweight at the same time that I purchased this Merkur. I started using both on alternating days. They both are great safety razors, but I put the Parker away for this Merkur. It gives me a very close comfortable shave. I saw other websites that said a newbie should work up to this shaver and gave it a lower rating, but I disagree. Get a good brush. Get a good pre-shave lotion and get a good shaving cream. Good doesn't always mean expensive. Get good blades that work for you and this shaver will last you a lifetime at a fraction of the cost of other disposable blade razors.

Received my Merkur HD from Albert last week and have been using it daily. Tried the complimentary Merkur blade that came with the razor and was underwhelmed. When paired with Feather or Derby blades though this razor performs like a champ. The styling is classic and has quite a bit of heft. You can tell immediately that this is a quality built product. The Merkur HD has a mythical history and now I understand why. Great razor!!!

The Merkur I received was in tip-top shape and came in timely fashion as advertised. Shaving with this razor as opposed to cartridge razors was like night and day for me. The weight of the razor is great and makes it effortless to shave. Very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to all new-comers getting into wetshaving
