This is my first shaving brush, and it's amazing! Ok, ok. I'll put aside my novelty and focus on the brush itself. The bristles are quite soft, I think. I've nothing to compare it to, but once the soap starts to lather, all I can feel are suds. I find it very easy to make lather with (Geo F. Trumper's limes). I don't use a bowl, I just wet some soap onto the brush, and swirl it on my cheek. After about 6 seconds, bath suds turn into meringue. When I first opened the package, it smelled like the badger was bludgeoned with a sack of cloves. I'm sure this is normal, but I just thought it note worthy. The smell was basically gone after my second shave. I've noticed a couple hairs have come off the lock. I'm pretty sure they didn't loosen from the knot, but rather are left from when the brush was made. They are about half the length of the other hairs, and they don't have the same colouration. Again, I don't have any other experience, and it's basically brand new, so I haven't noticed any change in look or performance. The one thing I didn't like about this brush was the sticker, which slowly pealed back leaving goo on my fingertips. But a little goo-gone after removing the sticker and this brush looks even better. I highly recommend this brush.
