I own a Dovo Prima Klang and a friend-of-a-friend asked me to hone their brand-new Timor Blue Steel razor. I used a King 1000X, followed by Norton 4k/8k combo stone and then stropped it up. Compared to the Dovo, this razor is noticeably "beefier". The extra 1/8" thickness is noticeable. The spine and tang are both thicker. I have very light hair growing amongst the coarser hairs of my chin and the Timor did a better job of clearing out those fine hairs. This razor has great stability in the hand. The steel seems good and hard on the hone. I've had a sub-par razor on the hone before and you can really feel the difference. The scales are a good quality plastic. Not too thick, but stiff enough to give a reasonable buffer against squeezing them such that the blade contacts the scale as you close the razor. I've found I have this problem with plastic scales and personally prefer wood. These are pretty good for plastic. The bluing will help prevent rust, especially in the hard-to-dry and hard-to-oil area around the pin. My carbon-steel Dovo has some spots in there, sadly. I considered buying this razor initially, but was worried I would not like the look of the bluing. I have found it looks better in person. The razor has a very cool, modern look that screams German precision. Overall, a very good razor with lots of steel for a low price. This is the kind of razor you might buy as a "beginner's razor" and keep using forever.
