I suffer from a mixture of coarse/curly hair and very sensitive skin. When I shaved with a Gillette blade and shaving cream, I wouldn’t get the close shave I was looking for and even worse my skin would be severely irritated by razor burns and ingrown hairs. I recently switched to a Merkur DE razor, purchased the Trumper’s sandalwood soap and skin food and a new badger hair brush. My shaves have never been closer, my skin has never been smoother, and I no longer suffer from irritated skin due to burns and ingrown hairs! This soap has an awesome smell and was so gentle on my sin that it allowed me to make 3 passes (against, along, and sideways) the grain which was otherwise impossible with the shaving tools I was using previously.

This is a great shaving soap. It lathers up really well, even with a floppy brush and hard water. I'd recommend softening the top layer of it with a bit of hot water a few minutes before using it. Aside from that it's a very light, fresh, sandalwood scent. It smells great while you're using it, but doesn't hang around forever. If you want a scent that will last all day, buy cologne.
