A great brass razor with a nickel finish, just like the Gillette's of 100 plus years ago. SALUTE!!
I have been using this Fatip Grande open comb razor for over a month now and I must say that I am impressed with both the performance and quality of this fine Italian made product. What initially drew me to the Fatip razors is the fact that they are made totally of brass. No zinc/mystery alloys or pot metal here! I like that, and I cannot say the same for my German made razors. The nickel finish on my razor is excellent. No chipping, peeling or other bad spots can be detected after every day use. OK, generally I like the aesthetics, but how does it perform? Provided the user does his/her part in this equation, the razor furnishes one with a wonderfully close and comfortable shave. I use Shave Secret oil instead of creams/soaps and this razor immensely simplifies using this oil. Closed comb razors trap the oil in the razor and force one to constantly flush hot water over the blade to get rid of the stubble/oil mixture. The open comb makes it much easier to clean the gunk out and finish shaving. Also, the substantial weight of the brass razor allows one to shave without having to use any extra downward force and thus minimizing cuts and razor burn. This is my favorite razor by far. I heartily recommend it to anyone who has a beard similar to mine; which resembles a growth of kudzu vine rather than human hair. And don't be afraid to use Feather blades which have become my favorite to use in my trusty Fatip Grande. Kudos to all those who choose to avoid the products from companies that have made the choice of razor and forced it onto men/women everywhere in the Western world. I personally dislike those danged over priced disposable razors with more blades than a porcupine has quills. Maybe U think the same way? In addition let me also recommend Fendrihan. In a world that has abandoned the concept of 'the customer is always right', Fendrihan provides service that is timely, courteous and excellent. What else can I say?
I gave this razor three stars back in April because of my inexperience in wet shaving. I finally dusted it off and tried it again with more wet shaves under my belt and WOW!! This little guy shaves close and comfortable. I need three passes with the EJ's but two and touch-up with this razor. Rest this on your face and let it work wonders, just guide it. No nicks, no blood, just a close shave.
