The other japanese stone on here was pretty good but this one was very disappointing. Not enough good area on it to do anything with it.
The price is lower because the name Honyama in Japanese means mountain and that is a generic term without referring to which part of the Island, is it the eastern part where the finset hones come from or is it the western part where some good hones also have been quarried but more suitable for tools rather than razors, also i cant read japanese and the name of the company that produced this stone is unknown. I got a perfect shaped stone, it is a green stone with condensed black dots on the surface, I wouldnt call it a medium grit hone because it is not a fast cutter, however it puts up a keen edge that you can shave with because the stone itself is not too scratchy. to be fine finished with a Nakayama for a silky edge.
