My final choice for blades & customer service
After more than a year of trying various blades, I finally settled on Astra platinum. Smooth, sharp, non-irritating (using an open comb), and keeping the edge for at least five shaves (I haven't pressed it further). As for customer service, some kind of mix up resulted in a problem with order...After more than a year of trying various blades, I finally settled on Astra platinum. As for customer service, some kind of mix up resulted in a problem with order fulfillment. An email to customer service had it fixed, no questions asked, in less than a week. Fantastic!

Nice smaller boar brush
My only other Semogue boar brush is the SOC, so when I say smaller, that's my reference point. In comparison, this is still breaking in, while my SOC is old. The 1470 has a smaller knot, but a lot more backbone. It holds plenty of lather for a 3 pass shave. It hasn't spayed out a ton, but that could always change after using it more. It didn't bother me at all, but there was a very faint animal smell that lasted after a larger or two.
