After more than a year of trying various blades, I finally settled on Astra platinum. Smooth, sharp, non-irritating (using an open comb), and keeping the edge for at least five shaves (I haven't pressed it further). My only other Semogue boar brush is the SOC, so when I say smaller, that's my reference point. In comparison, this is still breaking in, while my SOC is old. The 1470 has a smaller knot, but a lot more backbone. It holds plenty of lather for a 3 pass shave.
