Something's not quite right!

I've been shaving with a DE razor for 55 years. Online comments declared that the MKII was re-engineered and would render a more mild shave. However, using this product was, by far, the WORST shaving experience of my life. There were more nicks, cuts, scrapes (not to mention blood) than I have ever had with a razor and this includes old style barber's razors, freshly stropped. It took my neck about a week to heal properly. Thinking that something was not quite right, I ordered the Brass Head for comparison. This time I got a decent shave. The grooves on the Brass head are perpendicular to the blade whereas the grooves on this Stainless head arrive on the skin at a diagonal. Since my beard is an average weight and my 55 years of muscle memory shave a certain way, my best thought is that due to my particular technique, hair and skin were being torn out in the same way there is tear-out on a lathe due to the different design. Also, the Brass head resembles some of the Gillette versions that I have so my technique would be similar and have better results, which was the case. So, while I had a bad experience with the Stainless head, the Brass head works for me.

Very nice razor head

I bought the Mk2 version. Better finish, and not as aggressive as the Mk1 head. This is a very smooth shaving razor. It's a bit better than my Techs in cutting through whiskers, and almost as smooth as my Mamba (which doesn't shave as close as this). Certainly Fendrihan have sorted this head out now. It's a very nice shave. I like it. Used the usual Gillette blades (St Petersburg varieties), and all (as usual) work well with this head.

Great concept, execution could be better

I love the idea of an inexpensive way to acquire a stainless steel razor. $30 for a razor head is a steal, a total steal. Given that, I wish there were either better QC or a different supplier. The threads are VERY long; too long for the handle I use (I prefer shorter handles such as a Bulldog handle). I decided to find a different handle and was able to secure it onto there. With that out of the way, I gave shaving with it a shot. One side of the razor is fine with a feeling similar to that of an Edwin Jagger (favorite razor), though the other side has an uneven blade gap, slanting upward to the right. There's a bit of play between the heads, so not only was there an uneven blade gap, there was also uneven blade exposure which could not be fixed with out physically touching the razor edge and pushing it back into place. That doesn't solve the uneven gap issue, though. It seems like it'***** or miss with this head, and unfortunately this particular buy was a miss.

Good job guys

This is an excellent head. Being stainless steel it also is a wonderful value. Good weight and shaves smooth and balances nicely on the bamboo style handle I use. It also compliments my Scientist razor since the open comb side is great for trimming my beard line.

Stainless steel razor head

I have been looking for a high quality stainless steel razor head for some time. My chrome plated zinc alloy head started to corrode only after a few years. I wanted something to last me many years. This razor has exceeded all of my expectations. It gives me a smooth close shave with no razor burn or nicks. Also looks good and it fits perfect on my existing razor. You will not be disappointed with your purchase.
